Title
Queen Victorias Diamond Jubilee
Description
The Jubilee was widely celebrated in June 1897. In Loughborough, according to a newspaper report, Representatives of the Town Council, the Volunteers, and other public bodies took part, but the third feature was the six thousand children of the town, who formed the bulk of the lengthy column. By two oclock [they] stood in six long lines, extending the whole length of the Market-place. Each school had its big banner, while great efforts had been made to produce as effective a display as possible in the way of fancy dresses, Japanese parasols, mottos, flags, etc.
