Title
L2370 - Steam navvy and her crew at Rothley, Leicestershire
Description
L2370 - Taking a break from its work near Rothley, this Ruston excavator is one of forty three steam navvies that were employed during the construction of the Last Main Line. Posing for Newton's camera beside this formidable machine are the engine's crew. These men would most likely have worked for Henry Lovatt & Co. of Wolverhampton, the firm contracted to build this section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
