Fire Brigade Loughborough, 1899
Description
This picture was taken behind the old Fire Station, Ashby Road, Loughborough in 1899. The crew are with their Merryweather Pump, purchased in 1887, following a fire at Nottingham Manufacturing Company.
Fourth from left in the front row is the Superintendent, Jabez Cliff. He introduced many innovations during his time with the Loughborough Fire Brigade, with whom he served 39 years. He died in December 1930.
