Title
L2383 - Steam navvy at work near Wembley Hill, London
Description
L2383 - A Ruston steam navvy, complete with a typically improvised cab fashioned from wood and corrugated metal, digs into the mud near Wembley Hill during construction of the Neasden to Northolt line, circa 1903. Waiting patiently to remove the spoil is a horse hitched to a small tipping wagon. T. Oliver & Son was the contractor responsible for building this section of the railway.
