Title
Blackbrook Dam, opened in 1906
Description
George Hodson was a civil engineer, based in Loughborough and specialising in water supplies. He designed and constructed water and sewage works for over 60 towns, including Mansfield, Epsom, Uppingham and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Hodson foresaw that the only solution to Loughboroughs water problems was to acquire Blackbrook reservoir and construct a masonry dam. After much opposition he achieved this, and the dam was opened in 1906 (see Opening of Blackbrook Reservoir)
