Description
George Fox (July 1624-13 January 1691) was the founder of the Religious Society Of Friends (the Quakers). Born in Drayton-in-the-Clay in Leicestershire, he travelled across the country and abroad (including America, the West Indies and the Netherlands), preaching his radical view of Christianity. He died in London and was buried in Bunhill Fields, Islington.

This memorial stands on George Fox Lane and reads 'To the memory of George Fox, the founder of the Society of Friends, born near this spot at Fenny Drayton. AD 1624 Died AD 1690 [sic] and was interred in Bunhill Fields Burial Ground London. Erected 1872'
