L2222 - Thought to have been photographed at the Ashlawn Road bridge, this is the bucket arm of a steam navvy excavating a rock cutting near Rugby. Given their tremendous digging power, this rock would still have most likely been blasted with explosives before the machine commenced its work. This section of the Line (Contract No.4, Rugby to Woodford) was built by T. Oliver & Son.
