L2243 - This plate girder underbridge near Abbey Lane formed part of the viaduct that carried the London Extension across Leicester. A church spire rises beyond the right abutment, and a horse and carriage approach along the wide road. Henry Lovatt & Co. of Wolverhampton was the firm contracted to build this section of the Line (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
