St Nicholas is a very old church in Leicester city centre, with some parts dating from 880AD. By the early 19th century the church was in extremely poor condition, and it was originally planned to have the building demolished. These plans show the design of the church that was to replace St Nicholas. This never happened, and instead the church was refurbished between 1875 and 1884.
