Leicester Station was built in 1840, and rebuilt in 1894 and 1978. Originally named Leicester, it was renamed Leicester Campbell Street on 1st June 1867, then Leicester London Road on 12th June 1892. The station was finally renamed as Leicester on 5th May 1969.
