Desford station opened on 18 July 1832 and was named Desford Lane. It was renamed to Desford on 26 April 1833. The station closed on 27 March 1848, being replaced with a new one 135m westwards. The station fully closed on 7 September 1964, though the railway is still in operation by freight traffic.
