This milestone was originally found in 1771 on the west side of Fosse Way, near Thurmaston, and was used as a base for a lamp. In the 19th century it was moved to the town museum, and now stands in Jewry Wall museum. The inscription translates as:

"The Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus, son of the deified Trajan, conqueror of Parthia, grandson of the deified Nerva, father of his country, in the fourth year of tribunician power, thrice consul, from Ratae 2 miles. "
