The Imperial Hotel stands on the corner of Mere Road and St Saviours Rd in Spinney Hills, Leicester. Although often claimed to be designed by prominent architect Arthur Wakerley, it was actually built by Joseph Isaac Hallam in the 1880s. It originally featured a coffee room for the temperance movement and served as a lookout post during the War. It became a pub and was eventually converted into flats.
