The Essoldo Cinema was once the Temperance Hall, built by Thomas Cook in 1853. In 1912 the hall became a permanent cinema, with the name changing throughout the years from Cinema de Luxe and Prince's, before being named the Essoldo in the 1950s. The building was demolished in 1960.
