Ludlow castle stands in Ludlow, Shropshire. It was built between 1066-1083, making it one of the oldest tone castles in the country. It was inherited by Richard Duke of York in 1425.
The great chamber was built around 1320 by the nobleman Roger Mortimer as a chapel of St Mary Magdalene.
