A view of shops around Highcross St, which runs L-R in this photograph. The road running into the background is possibly Cumberland St or Sanvey Gate. Stores include WH Hallam: The Family Fry Pan Store (no.106), Dutt (no.104), The Highcross pub and Alcock & Weston (no 104 1/2). These buildings have since been demolished. The Highcross pub was built on the former site of the High Cross.
