Prehistoric Auroch Skull
Description
Found at Wymeswold Meadows Nature Reserve, Leicestershire. The auroch was the wild ancestor of modern domesticated cattle, but is now extinct. In the UK they were extinct by the Late Bronze Age, with the final individual of the species dying in Poland in 1627. This example is dated to between the Mesolithic and Bronze Age, c. 10,000-700 BC
