Description
Men laying tramlines for electric trams at the Melton Rd/Loughborough Rd junction, Leicester, c1903. The electrification of the tramlines was a massive undertaking, as the lines used by the horse-drawn trams were completely unsuitable for electric trams. Overhead powerlines would also needed to be installed. In the background is a horse-drawn tram.
