Description
Sheep dipping in Welham. Sheep were washed 2 weeks before shearing to remove dirt and burrs from the fleece. Here a pool has been made in the stream and the sheep forced into the water one by one. The man with the pole ensured the sheep were well washed, then, its fleece heavy with water, it was allowed to scramble up the only easy slope (to the left of the picture).
