Description
Construction work on Blackbrook reservoir. This was to build the gravity dam, which was completed in 1906 and still stands today. It was the first dam to be constructed of mass concrete with rock displacers. On 11th Fberuary 1957 the dam was damaged by an earthquake, making it the only dam in Britain where the damage is directly attributed to an earthquake. Photo taken 29th August 1901.
