Title
Haymaking With Horse Rakes, Great Glen
Description
The horse-drawn hayrake was used on larger farms to collect grass, which was then built into hay cocks by men using pitchforks. Early machines are inefficient as their fixed teeth often missed sections of grass. The photo shows a later model with individually moving teeth, which could rake uneven surfaces.
