Title
L3361 - Three arch overbridge over track under development
Description
L3361. This three arch brick overbridge is believed to be located in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. The cutting is freshly dug, and a line of men in the distance are spreading a mystery white substance on its left slope. One interpretation is that chalk or lime was used to prevent the growth of shrubbery which would need cutting back regularly, and spoil the aesthetics of the route. Alternatively it could form some sort of drainage system. Previously a Great Western line would have traversed the route, but it has been taken up, and the cutting widened in order to make room for additional lines. Construction of a new permanent line appears to be in progress towards the right of the cutting - the trackbed and sleepers have yet to be laid. Another will later have taken the place of the contractor's line on the left.
