Notes
This gold ring was found in Earl Shilton, Hinckley and Bosworth in 2006. These enigmatic objects are often called `ring money' and may have been an early type of currency. Alternatively, they may have been jewellery worn by wealthy members of society, perhaps through the nose or in the hair. It is possible that both theories are valid and they were currency worn as jewellery.
