Title
Medieval Posy Ring, Illston-on-the-Hill
Description
Late Medieval (15th century) gold finger-ring, 18mm in diameter, 4mm wide and 1mm thick.
It is in good condition and weighs 1.32grams.
The ring has a rectangular sectioned loop and is inscribed on the outer surface with three words divided by foliate engraving, a French inscription in gothic or `blackletter' script, which read SANS DE PARTIER, meaning without end or leaving, and meaning 'I am yours forever', an amatory phrase.
