Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark- known as the Duchess of Kent after her marriage to Prince George in 1934- made a tour of Leicester in 1945. She visited the Royal Infirmary, the General Hospital, several factories and a Red Cross and St. John joint war organisation fair and exhibition at De Montfort Hall. She was accompanied by the Lord Mayor John Minto and Lord and Lady Herbert.
