The artist in this photograph is Terence Tenison Cuneo (1 Nov 1907 - 3 Jan 1996), an artist renowned for his skills at painting military and railway scenes. The painting he is working on is 'Lieutenant John Cridlan Barrett, VC, 1/5th Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment during the Attack on Machine Guns in Forgan's Trench, 24 September 1918', commissioned by the Leicestershire Regiment in 1958. It was transferred to Newarke Houses Museum in 1964. The man beside him has the badge of the Leicestershire Regiment on his tie.
