View of the first railway station on West Bridge, Leicester. The spire of Mary De Castro is visible in the background. This stretch of railway opened in 1832, making it amongst the first in the world. These buildings included a wharf shed, joiner's shop, company office, engine shed, workshop and smithy. As the line was designed to carry coal there were no facilities for passengers. This image has been reversed.
