Title
L2247 - Laying the permanent way near Aylestone
Description
L2247 - Laying the permanent way, thought to have been photographed at a cutting near Aylestone. With these very different stages of construction, as the twin tracks of the main line meet with a bed of hard core and a set of contractor's temporary railway, this could possibly be the site at which Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone built by Henry Lovatt & Co.) met with Contract No.3 (Aylestone to Rugby built by Topham Jones & Railton).
