L2270 - Girder occupation underbridge near Ruddington, Nottinghamshire, bearing the familiar lattice work iron parapet so typical of the Last Main Line. With gates at either side of the embankment opening onto fields, it is clear that this handsome structure was erected to provide a farmer with access to their land. The identity of the man standing on the line is sadly unknown: could it be the young S.W.A. Newton himself'
