Title
L1831 - Girder bridge crossing the old Great Western line at West Wycombe
Description
L1831 - Photographed prior to the construction of the Great Western & Great Central Joint Railway, this is a section of the existing Great Western line passing under a girder bridge near West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The church at West Wycombe is just visible on the hill beyond. Although these rails are set to standard gauge width, originally they had been laid as broad gauge track, a type used exclusively by the Great Western which was gradually replaced with the more familiar system we know today.
