Title
L1828 - Wooden bridge crossing the old Great Western Line in Buckinghamshire
Description
L1828 - An ageing wooden bridge spans a section of the old Great Western line in Buckinghamshire, circa 1900. Interestingly, the longitudinal sleepers indicate this to be a former section of broad gauge track - a system used exclusively by the Great Western - prior to their being converted to standard gauge width. As part of the construction for the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line, this existing railway was later widened and the permanent way seen here was replaced with two new tracks of main line.
