L1640 - Navvies pause for a moment to pose for Newton's camera near Goldhurst Terrace, West Hampstead, London, circa 1897. The engine's cab, fashioned from wood and corrugated metal, is a later modification installed by the contractor. This section of the Line (Contract No.7, London) was constructed by J.T. Firbank of London Bridge.
