L1683 - Building works in progress on Leicester Central Station, 28.1.1899. When one considers that the Line opened for passenger traffic in March of the same year, it is easy to appreciate the advances made by the contractors during the final two months of construction. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton built this section of the London Extension (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
