Title
L1694 - Bearded railway official at station.
Description
L1694 - S. W. A. Newton's project to photograph the construction of the Great Central Railway was not solely limited to images of engineering. Here we see one of his numerous portraits of railwaymen, this one being of a bearded official at an undetermined station. The lettering on the gentleman's hat appears to read 'GW & GC Rly', and the series of photographs that this image is from suggests that the location might be Saunderton Station. The uniform he is wearing is certainly not of the typical Great Central Railway high standard.
