Title
L1729 - Constructing the station at New Basford, Nottinghamshire
Description
L1729 - Construction of New Basford Station, Nottinghamshire, circa 1897. Built to the 'island' design that became a trademark of the Last Main Line, the station buildings were constructed on this central platform. As with the contractor's temporary railway seen here, the permanent way would then run either side of the station. This stretch of the London Extension (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake) was built by Logan & Hemingway.
