Title
L1786 - Brick arch overbridge and excavators near Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
Description
L1786 - An industrious scene on the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line near Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, circa 1903. Two contractor's locomotives are just visible beyond the brick arch overbridge, flanked by the two imposing steam navvies at work on either side of the cutting. Typically, the contractor's temporary railway is poorly laid and littered with debris. Pauling & Co. of Westminster was the firm responsible for building this later section of the Last Main Line (Northolt to High Wycombe).
