Title
L1546 - Culvert north of Belgrave and Birstall station, Leicester
Description
L1546 - 'Transverse culvert north of Crab Lane', Birstall, Leicester (S.W.A. Newton's notes). The tipping wagons at the top of the photograph belonged to Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton, the contractor responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone). Note the tracks: it is unusual for contractor's to use chairs on their temporary railway.
