L1581 - 'Metropolitan Railway's Quainton Road station' (S.W.A. Newton's notes), Buckinghamshire, circa 1897. Beyond the iron footbridge is the new brick arch overbridge built to carry a road over the line. Not wishing to delay the increased volume of traffic that accompanied the Metropolitan's new relationship with the Great Central, the bridge was constructed to replace a level crossing.
