Title
L1584 - Contractor's rails and large ballast near Finmere, Buckinghamshire
Description
L1584 - Contractor's railway 'through Finmere Wood' (S.W.A. Newton's notes), Buckinghamshire, circa 1897. For temporary rails, these tracks are relatively well laid and maintained. On the left of the photograph is a bed of large ballast, put down in preparation for the permanent way. This section of the line (Contract No.6, Brackley to Quainton Road) was constructed by Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne.
