Description
L1590 - Construction of the girder 'bridge over canal, Bedehouse Meadows', Leicester (S.W.A. Newton's notes). The lattice work iron parapet is a typical feature of the London Extension. Note the steam powered crane at work on the bridge. This section of the line (Contract No.2 Leake to Aylestone) was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton between 1894-1899.
