L1600 - Construction of the 'abutments for the bridge over canal', West Bridge, Leicester (S.W.A. Newton's notes). The bridge formed part of the viaduct - a section of which is just visible beyond the sign board - that carried the London Extension across much of the city. This part of the Line (Contract No.2 Leake to Aylestone) was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
