Title
L3527 - Waiting for the Brackley - Helmdon paddy night mail
Description
L3527 - One of many excellent photographs in the Newton Collection depicting the men involved at the grass roots of railway construction. Sitting in a cutting near Brackley, a row of work weary navvies wait for the night mail to arrive to transport them 'home' for the night. Contractors' lines are in place, ready to receive the locomotive towing the paddy train. Two men can be seen over the top of the cutting, still hard at work loading tipping into a wagon.
