Description
L3533 - A construction gang pause from levelling the sides of this embankment in Helmdon, Northamptonshire. Their jackets lie discarded alongside a permanent line which looks ready to receive traffic. Newton noted that this image was taken near the site of Sulgrave Brickworks - a small business located near Sulgrave Road Bridge, which provided many internal bricks for nearby bridges and viaducts on the route. External facades remained in line with other Great Central structures, and were faced with blue bricks from elsewhere.
