Description
L3397 - This photograph is taken from the vantage point of Loudwater tunnel in Buckinghamshire. Two contractors' lines run through the Chilterns towards High Wycombe in a newly excavated deep chalk cutting, crossing over at one point on their journey. This section of the Great Central and Great Western Joint Railway was contracted to Pauling and Co., Westminster, and construction work was evidently still under way at the time this photograph was taken. Tipping wagons and workmen can be seen at various stages along the length of track.
