Title
L3409 - Quadruple track and retaining walls near Wembley Hill Station
Description
L3409 - These tracks near Wembley Hill Station formed part of the Great Central Railway's Neasden to Northolt line, which connected their 'Alternative Route' with the existing Great Central and Metropolitan Line. Construction work for the section was very costly, partly due to the number of lines laid: the section of quadruple track in the photograph extended from Brent Bridge in Neasden, to Blind Lane between Wembley Hill and Sudbury and Harrow Road. There was also a need for massive retaining walls a perfect example of which can be seen in this photograph. Note also drainage pipes carrying water away from the cutting walls.
