Title
L1482 - Navvies constructing the tunnel at Saunderton, Buckinghamshire
Description
L1482 - Tunnel construction on the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line, Saunderton, Buckinghamshire, circa 1903. The navvies standing precariously over the arch provide an impressive sense of scale to both the chalk face and tunnel mouth. Work on this later section of the London Extension (Princes Risborough to Grendon Underwood) was carried out by Louis P. Nott between 1902-1905.
