Title
L1501 - Contractor's siding and Ground Frame near Loughborough
Description
L1501 - In order to get materials to the construction sites on the new London Extension, special sidings and small branch lines were installed by the contractors at various points on the already established main line railways. This example is seen at Loughborough, where the contractors siding branches off from the Midland Railway. The ground frame controlling the points is located inside the wooden hut. Note the shining surface of the rails indicating regular use.
