Title
L1504 - Braunstone Gate construction site
Description
L1504 - To get the London Extension across Leicester, a long blue-brick viaduct had to be built that incorporated several girder bridges. One of these was at Braunstone Gate (see Newton - I 2/2), and here we see the clearance work being carried out. Many navvies can be seen digging, but most have stopped to look at the camera. A light contractor's railway is in place and a steam crane with bucket is in use moving the excavated earth. Note the blurred bucket indicating movement.
