Title
L1511 - Cutting construction near Cosby in Leicestershire
Description
L1511 - The London Extension featured many cuttings like the one shown in this picture near Cosby Hill in Leicestershire. After the cutting had been excavated, it would have to be levelled before the drainage could be laid, and then dressed to finish it off. Here we can see the partially dressed cutting walls with navvies working in different places. One length of the main line permanent way has been laid, while the parallel line is still the contractor's track. Standing on this are a number of drop-side wagons that some navvies appear to be unloading. Note the newly installed telegraph poles that still await their wires.
