Title
L1720 - Contractor's railway and tipping wagon, Aylestone
Description
L1720 - 'Contractor's branch to Midland Railway's Burton Branch, Aylestone', Leicester (S.W.A. Newton's notes). To bring materials, equipment and machinery to the construction areas, it was necessary for the contractors to use the existing railway network that would, eventually, be competing with the Great Central for traffic. This section of the Line was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
